Guppies
All guppies must attend our Evaluation night on Thursday, May 7th and must be able to doggie paddle and stay afloat on their own for a small distance without help. We just need to make sure that your swimmer can safely be in the water without any safety concerns. After the evaluation, the coaches will contact you via email to let you know if your child will or will not be on the guppy team. Registration will be pending the evaluation and a full refund will be given if your swimmer is unable to meet the requirements.
Your guppy must be 5 years old and we are limiting our guppy team to 18 swimmers. The Guppies program is for young swimmers who may not be ready for the regular swim team. Our only requirement is that your child should be able to swim or "doggie paddle" and float on their own without help a small distance. No swim floaties or swim vests may be worn. This program is not to be considered as a substitute for swimming lessons. Guppies are part of the Bent Creek Swim Team and are encouraged to participate in all socials. Guppies will participate in the awards ceremony and receive their team gift at that time. Guppies may agree to move up to the regular swim team during the swim season based on the judgment of the coaches and the permission of the parents. For safety's sake, each Guppy needs an assigned or delegated individual to be available during each practice.
